Capturing the Moment

I believe it was during our second class where Professor Kaufman explained how cameras produced images and how film was processed. One aspect of the understanding how a camera captures a picture dealt with exposure and shutter speed. One of the images she had shown showed a water balloon popping where the shutter speed of the camera was so fast that it captured the water within the water balloon still in the shape of the balloon that had been popped. Although the image on the left is not the same photo that was shown during class, I was motivated to attempt to replicate this image as seen in the picture on the right. The reason I find this picture so amazing is because of how simple, pure, and beautiful the water looks when suspended in air. The light that passes through the water makes it seem as if it were composed of tiny ice crystals rather than liquid.
