Strange Structures
The top picture was today's daily photograph at thedailynice.com, whereas I took the photograph to the right in response to the first photograph. The structure in the foreground of the top photograph particularly reminded me of the gazebo-like structure found between Pfahler and Myrin on campus and, as such, I took a photo that tried to capture the symmetry shown in the top photograph. Just as the perpendicular slices of the above object differ from each other, the slices of the gazebo structure to the left differ based on the sunlight reflecting off of them, with the slices, from this perspective, becoming progressively darker from left to right. In some ways, the second photograph gives some idea of what it might be like to be inside the structure/object shown in the first photograph.
