I stumbled upon the picture on the left when before we began
shooting our responses to the Berman’s Invented
Object exhibit. I was still figuring out how to use my camera and decided
to type, “cool digital photography” into the Google search engine where I discovered
this picture. Despite the fact that the image is from Wikipedia, the vantage
point that is portrayed allowed me to experience the vision of people who
depend on glasses in order see properly. The way that the image is refracted
through the lens inspired me to attempt to mimic this technique. I tried to reproduce the refraction and focus
within the photo that I took on the right. I was able to find a pair of glasses
with a strong enough prescription to refract
the image but was unable to reproduce the focus due to my camera’s inability to
manually focus shots.
