I found the picture to the right at iheatphotograph.com (Katja Mater 10/27/2008) after I took the picture on the left during our in class shooting session last Friday. During class, we looked at Robert Frank that depicted a musician with his tuba (maybe it was a different instrument). In the picture, the musician's face was distorted, mainly due to the fact that the opening to the tuba was blocking it. Just like that picture, and the picture that I've found on iheartphotograph, a sort of facial or bodily distortion is used. In my picture, the American flag is obstructing our view of someone who is hoisting it down: in Katja Mater's picture, someone's face is literally blurred. Though Mater's picture wasn't the inspiration for mine, Robert Frank's was. So, in a sense, since Mater's picture is very similar to Frank's as far as content is concerned, Mater's picture actually was a sort of inspiration for my picture as well.
