I was inspired by the picture on the right (Family Portrait by Aaron Gustafson on iheartphotograph) to explore the concept of family pictures. The picture I've take on the left is the family portrait section of my house. Compositionally, I believe both pictures explore the juxtaposition of the idyllic family and the reality of family life. Family portraits, as it just so happens, seem to be the ultimate manifestation of this duality. Both pictures explore this interplay, though admittedly Gustafson's picture does much more poignantly and obviously.
