This photo is a composite of three individual images that I combined using Photoshop. The two portraits were taken on separate days and at different locations and were then combined with the background image taken from the inside of an abandoned warehouse. I was inspired by the work of Jerry Uelsmann (example below) Uelsmann does similar work but without the benefit and power of Photoshop. Cutting each negative separately, Uelsmann does the tedious work of piecing together elaborate combinations of images and sandwiching the negatives together to develop one synthesized photo. The patience required for such work is daunting to me, and I rarely do I see such beauty and creativity in photography.
